Pastor Yauo Yang was born in 1980 in a refugee camp in Ban Vinai, Thailand. By the grace of God his parents were already Christians. His family moved to Wausau, WI in 1987. He graduated from high school in 2000. During that same year he also married his wife, Mayla, and they both went to live in Stevens Point to attend college. In 2002, Pastor Yauo signed up for the Wisconsin National Guard. He was deployed to Iraq from 2004-2005. In 2008 he graduated from college with a teaching degree. Pastor Yauo’s first job out of college was being a 6th grade social studies teacher. During this time he continued to stay active in church by being a Sunday School teacher, youth director, young couples director, elder and Superintendent of Discipleship. In 2015, the Lord placed a heavy burden in his heart to church plant. In 2016 The Cross was started out of his home with a few families. In Spring 2017, Pastor Yauo received his Masters in Christian Studies from Crown College. During this time they also moved the church out of their house to a public facility on the North side of Wausau. Currently, they are located in downtown Wausau, where they are renting the YWCA building. Pastor Yauo and his wife have six children: Kennedy, Teagan, Malachi, Sunshine, Enoch and Arianna. During the rare moments that he actually has some down time Pastor Yauo enjoys spending time with his family by enjoying the great outdoors (fishing, camping, canoeing, hunting) and playing sports with them.
